BOR — Voter-registration materials supplied by South Sudan’s National Elections Commission have arrived in Bor, marking the first publicly reported physical deployment supporting the commission’s nationwide paper-based voter-registration plan.

Jonglei State High Elections Committee chairperson Tuor Majok Guech said the committee had already assessed prospective registration centres across the state and had received registration books and supporting equipment from the NEC.

According to Radio Tamazuj, the consignment includes registration books, pens, T-shirts, caps and promotional materials, together with a generator, projector, screen, megaphones and a rechargeable speaker.

The arrival of materials does not mean voter registration has begun. The NEC has not yet publicly announced the registration start date, final centres or accepted identification documents.

The delivery shows that preparations are moving from planning and training into logistics. It also provides the first visible test of how the paper-registration system will be supplied outside Juba.

Residents should wait for the formal NEC notice before attempting to register. The Jonglei committee said registration centres and further details would be announced after the national commission officially sets the registration date.

That makes equitable distribution as important as the existence of the materials themselves.
