Yei Schools Use Music and Drama to Make a Case for Peace

Seven secondary schools took part in a two-day competition launched on 15 October; the final winners still need confirmation.

South Sudan Press · 19 October 2026

Seven secondary schools in Yei River County took part in a music, dance and drama competition that began on Thursday, 15 October, according to local broadcaster Access Radio. The fourth annual contest was organised by Talent Initiative for Development with partners and the county education department.

Organisers framed the event around talent, peaceful coexistence and cultural diversity. That makes the stage more than a performance venue: it gives students a public platform to collaborate and test ideas about community life. Participation and the opening were reported; South Sudan Press has not independently confirmed the final results or prize recipients.

We are asking organisers for the complete list of participating schools, winners, photographs cleared for publication and a plan to sustain arts teaching after the event. Students should be credited by name only with appropriate consent, particularly where they are minors.
