Eight Medals Across Three Sports: Olympic Committee Hails South Sudan Team

A newly issued Olympic committee account revisits the August regional games; the medals were won in Nairobi in August, not this week.

South Sudan Press · 19 October 2026

South Sudan's National Olympic Committee reported on 12 October that the country won eight medals at the ANOCA Zone V Games held at Kenyatta University in Nairobi from 24 to 28 August. The disciplines were 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball and athletics.

The committee identified a first-place finish for the men's 3x3 basketball team and bronze for the women's team. It also listed bronze performances for men's and women's beach volleyball, and silver and bronze results in sprinting and jumping events. The committee's account is a retrospective celebration rather than a result from 19 October.

The next reporting question is what comes after the podium: where the athletes train, whether coaching and travel are funded, and what domestic fixtures allow younger players to progress. South Sudan Press is seeking a current local match calendar from the respective federations before advertising fixtures that may have changed.
