Permanent state and administrative-area roles cover registration, polling and results coordination. Apply in person by 21 October.

South Sudan Press · 19 October 2026

The National Elections Commission has opened applications for 13 returning officers, one in each of the ten states and three administrative areas. The posts are permanent and based at state or area headquarters. Applications opened on 14 October and close on Wednesday, 21 October.

The officers will oversee local implementation of the NEC's plans, including recruitment and training of temporary personnel, registration, civic education, polling arrangements, electoral materials and results reporting. Applicants must be South Sudanese with a diploma or degree in public administration and management, law, social sciences or a related field, plus relevant experience. The NEC encourages women to apply.

Applications must be lodged in person with the chairperson of the relevant State or Administrative Area High Elections Committee. The NEC asks for a letter naming the preferred duty station, a CV of no more than two pages, certificates, identification and evidence of experience and references. Consult the complete vacancy notice before travel or submission. The commission says only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

This is a verified job opportunity; South Sudan Press is not collecting applications and no fee is stated in the notice.
