Opposition Party Announces Morobo South Aspirant as Election Field Takes Shape
A reported SSNMC launch is a sign of opposition activity, but formal nomination and campaign access require separate verification.
Access Radio reported on 16 October that the South Sudan National Movement for Change launched Sanya Jackson Cosmas's bid for a Central Equatoria State Legislative Assembly seat representing Morobo South. The announcement adds a concrete local case to the debate about who can organise ahead of the planned national elections.
A party event does not itself establish that the candidate has completed official nomination with the NEC, and it does not prove that all parties enjoy equal access. The commission should publish nomination rules and dates; local authorities should disclose consistent standards for meetings, travel and public facilities.
South Sudan Press will ask Cosmas and the party about programme and campaign arrangements, and seek confirmation of formal status from the NEC. We will compare documented approvals and restrictions across parties rather than assume a single event settles the broader question.
