Revenue Authority Promises Faster Customs Clearance
Traders’ concerns put Nimule and Juba airport procedures under scrutiny.
News desk · Source-based report; no on-scene SSP reportingJUBA — South Sudan Revenue Authority Commissioner General Rizig Dominic Samuel has promised to simplify customs processes after meeting freight forwarders, Eye Radio reports.
The Tuesday meeting considered delays at Nimule, Juba International Airport and other entry points. The authority also stressed accurate declarations and action against irregular trade.
The assurance is a policy commitment. The report does not demonstrate that clearance times or traders’ costs have already fallen.
A practical follow-up would compare processing times before and after any reforms, publish official charges and identify a complaints channel. Traders need predictable requirements and documented decisions so that improvements can be assessed beyond the meeting announcement.
Faster clearance could reduce storage and transport costs, but any effect on retail prices would depend on other costs and market conditions. That is an economic inference, not a measured outcome of the announced discussions.
