Coalition Filing Deadline Nears as Parties Face Thursday Cut-Off

The PPC says pre-election alliances must complete filings and deposits by 5 p.m. on 22 October; the rule does not cover every candidate.

South Sudan Press · 19 October 2026

Fully registered political parties intending to form a pre-election coalition face a 5 p.m. deadline on Thursday, 22 October, under a Political Parties Council order. The PPC says the application, agreement and mandatory financial deposit must all be submitted by that time, and late submissions will be rejected.

This is a coalition registration deadline, not a universal candidate nomination deadline. The Council's webpage inconsistently labels the instrument as Order 4 and Order No. 5/2026; the signed instrument should settle the designation. Applicants should request a dated filing receipt and check the complete official requirements directly with the PPC.

The fairness question is practical: can parties outside Juba obtain forms, pay the deposit and submit complete documents on equal terms? The Council should publish the amount and method of payment, list of applications received, grounds for rejection and route of appeal. No rejection of a specific party is established by the order alone.
