A National Elections Commission team visited Yambio to inspect the Western Equatoria election office, staffing and warehouse capacity. Commissioner William Deng said on 20 October that findings requiring national support would be referred to headquarters.

State committee chair Simon Bakama said some areas remain difficult to access because of the presence of SPLM-IO forces, citing Nadiangere and parts of Nagero. This is his security account; conditions on the ground need independent checking with residents, parties, security actors and humanitarian operators.

The NEC’s application period for 13 state and administrative-area returning officers closes 21 October. Appointments, safe access and warehouse adequacy are measurable milestones; the inspection itself is not proof that voter registration is ready in every county.
