Women’s rights advocate Jackline Nasiwa told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that only two of 13 caretaker ministers are women, warning that recent appointments have diminished political representation ahead of elections. The figure is her account and should be checked against the complete current appointment list.

Participants in a Juba workshop said the gap between the 35% affirmative-action commitment and appointments can affect influence over budgets, lawmaking, peace and election administration. The workshop is expected to issue recommendations.

The test is to publish a dated roster for each national and state caretaker post, including vacancies and acting assignments, then identify the authority responsible for rectifying any shortfall. Representation in the cabinet does not alone measure participation in every state institution.
