Health Ministry Begins Ebola Preparedness Drill in Juba, Yei and Yambio
The exercise runs 19–23 October; officials say it is a simulation, not a declaration of an outbreak.

South Sudan’s Ministry of Health launched a field simulation exercise on 19 October in Juba, Yei and Yambio to test readiness for Bundibugyo virus disease. The reported programme runs through 23 October and involves the National Public Health Institute and health partners.
Health Minister Dak Duop Bichiok said teams will practise surveillance, coordination, communication, infection prevention and emergency response. Residents may see emergency vehicles and health personnel taking part. The ministry specifically said this activity is a preparedness exercise and does not announce an outbreak in South Sudan.
The drill should reveal practical gaps in reporting, laboratory referral, protective supplies and transfer of patients. Officials should publish the exercise findings and corrective actions after it ends. Readers should follow current Ministry of Health and National Public Health Institute notices for verified advice rather than treat simulated movements as evidence of a case.
