Sudan’s army-aligned authorities have denied involvement in the 19 October drone attack on Amiet Market in Abyei, while the RSF-aligned Government of Peace says it has sought an international investigation, Radio Tamazuj reports.

The denial follows accusations by South Sudanese officials against the Sudanese Armed Forces. The rival administration’s foreign affairs representative, Ammar Amoun Deldoum, told the outlet that a complaint had been submitted to the UN fact-finding mechanism.

Neither the denial nor the accusation establishes responsibility. A request for an investigation is also distinct from confirmation that investigators have opened a case or reached findings.

For reporting to advance, investigators would need securely preserved physical material, corroborated witness accounts and a documented chronology. Public statements should be tested against that evidence rather than treated as substitutes for it.

SSP’s follow-up priorities are an acknowledged investigation mandate, access arrangements and a reconciled casualty record. The new statements do not settle earlier discrepancies in reported death totals.

The reported development is a denial and an investigation request. Responsibility and the final casualty count remain unresolved.
